Despite these and other imaging improvements, including Canon's fast, high-precision 9-point autofocus system and a new maximum burst rate of 3 frames per second, the Digital Rebel XTi remains an incredibly affordable digital SLR camera.

Canon's compact 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II autofocus zoom lens is smaller and lighter than conventional lenses because of the shorter back focus distance which produces high image quality with superb resolution at all focal lengths.

This 70-300mm lens is a lightweight, compact, high-image-quality telephoto zoom lens with macro capability of 1:2. Flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180-300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 37.4", enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects.

Made from durable nylon, and outfitted with a leather reinforced handle, this multi-compartment case will easily hold your camera, lenses, flash, and accessories.

Customer Review: Great features don't mean a thing if it's out of focus
This camera has great features and I really liked it. But unfortunately I had to return it because like many out there, all of my photos were slightly out of focus. I ended up purchasing the Canon Digital Rebel XS instead. I lost a few things, but it was worth it. The XS takes great photos and for the same price I was able to get the camera kit plus an additional 75-300 lens.
Customer Review: Entry level price with mid- to pro-range performance
Like others have said, don't let the "Entry level" tag scare you away from this camera if you are looking for something that will produce stunning images. If you aren't getting great shots with this, it isn't the camera (the user image gallery speaks to that). I've had the chance to use a range of digital cameras in the last few years, ranging from the pro-level stuff like a Canon 1Ds Mk ii to the real entry level SLR's like the Nikon D40 (which I will go ahead and say to avoid if you are looking for an SLR - its not a bad camera at all, but considering the fact that you don't have to spend THAT much more money to get a LOT more camera, it just isn't a real wise investment). I can say straight away that this camera performs beyond its price tag. I needed an SLR that would be good enough to do portrait work, some outdoor sports shots, an occasional wedding but at the same time be something small and lightweight enough to conveniently take with me while hiking, traveling, etc., and not break the bank. This camera does all that and more. Performance is great at low ISO's and the camera produces good shots even at 1600 (the noise reduction features both in camera and with the included raw editing software also help). Obviously it won't produce shots at ISO 1600 that are as good as shots on one of the professional grade cameras like the aforementioned 1D series, but its a HUGE step up from a point and shoot if that is all you have used. My own personal experience is that I usually never need to go above ISO 800 for the low light shooting I do, and the pics I get at that ISO are great without a distracting amount of digital noise. The large LCD screen is a great step up from the smaller ones on previous rebels and menus are easy to navigate. The self-cleaning sensor function works like a charm, but you should still invest in a hurricane blower to in case dust does get on your sensor (an inevitable situation if you use the camera long enough and change lenses). I highly recommend getting a Canon Speedlight external flash (I own the 430 EX II). The built in flash on the camera works fine, but you can do so much more with directional and reflected lighting, and the speedlight flashes give you this opportunity. If you get this camera, don't always rely on a flash for portraits. A steady hand, slightly slower shutter speed and wider aperture with slightly darker natural indoor lighting will produce some stunning portraits that really capture a mood instead of a shot where the flash has drowned out lots of the details. Also, if you want a lens that is great for portraits with nice blurred background (bokeh), you can't beat the value of the f1.8 50mm prime here: Canon - Lens - 50 mm - f/1.8 II - Canon EF The 18-55 mm kit lens is a decent starter lens, but there is no doubt that better lenses will produce better pictures (but you will be spending some serious $$$). Still, if you are looking at your first SLR, this lens will get you lots and lots of great shots. I got the kit at Costco and it came with a Canon camera bag, the 18-55mm lens, and a 55-250 mm IS lens as well (all for $849). Again, both perform admirably for kit lenses. One last thing I want to reiterate - Learn to use the SLR - don't just stick to auto mode and use it as a point and shoot camera. You will be missing out on nearly all of the benefits that really separate SLR's from the others. There is a learning curve, so don't be afraid to take a bunch of pictures while playing with your aperture, shutter, flash, iso, etc., to get a feel for how all work together to produce certain types of images. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Phoenix 650-2600mm Telephoto Lens with Mount for Canon EOS 30D 20D 5D Digital Rebel XT XTI & Film SLR Cameras

Marketing description is not available.
Customer Review: It all Depends on What You Will Be Using it For!
Before I received it, I was very skeptical; quality! usability, value! All these questions were lingering in my mind. Then I received it. At first impression, I was elated! The build quality was not bad at all, it reminded me of Canon's big lenses, though much less fancy. What struck me as odd, was not the external zooming or focusing design rather than the short end of the zooming tube left to support the weight of the lens at ful zoom range. I could understand the designer's point of view from an engineering perspective, what I could not understand was that a 2" extra length in the internally moving tube beyond the maximum zooming range would have added enough stability to render the lens far superior than its cuurent pathetic configuration, yet nobody gave this thought a rat's tail end. It is made in China, yet the add stated that it was made in Japan. It appears that, though some chinese products are equal to the Japanese when under strict engineering and manufacturing tolerances, left to their own whims, they try to cut corners that cannot possibly be cut from an American end user's perspective, rendering the whole thing a fiasco. Fortunately, this is not a total fiasco, but I sure hope that somebody out there is reading these letters right now! Only 2" of extra aluminum tubing would do the job just fine. Another aspect, albeit, this time strictly esoteric; the lens is so bland! When you hold a German or a Japanese Lens, apart from the instantly evident signs of high quality, you will notice that it has had a lot of thought when the general looks were being considered. This one is lacking luster, which when added, would not really add any extra cost. Just placing some fancy tags and inscriptions with multi color zooming lines scheme would make a world of a difference to the appearence and the seeming quality. Again, I hope someone is reading these letters right now! Now to usability: If you think you could use this lens for anything other than mounted on extremely steady tripod for long to very long exposure shots, you will have wasted your time and money. This lens could only be practical for nature, some wild life, and landscape, where quick shots are not even part of your prepearation, much less your consideration. Quality wise, well, for the price and the market for which it is intended, it is a very good tool, all you need is a good knowledge of its capability and limitations, and a super heavy tripod as well as super majestic targets to shhot it with this lens. The rest is superflowous. Conclusion: You are not a pro, you have $300 to spare, you enjoy photography and are willing to go distances for good shots, and you are not thinking of selling your products to photo agencies! If these conditions meet you half way, buy the darn thing, it is the only lens out there capable of doing what a hunting rifle is capable ofPhotographic Lenses: Photographers Guide to Characteristics, Quality, Use and Design; bringing you the head of a trophy from a quarter mile away!
Customer Review: Phoenix 650-2600mm Telephoto Lens
This lens not bad for the money,Can't hand hold it. Its long and heavy, I found that it leaves halos around some of the images like ducks and eagles I have been taking photos of.Other wise it not a bad lens used with a tri-pod or mini pod. If you can't afford a canon hi end lens like i would of like this one not bad.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Designed to match the APS-C size image sensors of Canon digital SLR cameras, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens is an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, including snapshots, portraiture, indoor shooting, and landscape photography. The 30mm lens relies on two special-low-dispersion glass elements and a glass-mold aspherical lens. Combined, the construction details correct for all types of chromatic and color aberrations. The lens is also equipped with a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) that supports quiet, high-speed autofocus, but also turns off should you prefer full-time manual focusing. Customer Review: So much potential; so little QC
I tried four copies; three were bad, one was awful. This lens has been very favorably reviewed, and I find their 50 f1.4 to be magnificent, so I took a chance. The only thing I can think, based on what I saw in the files, is that in each case, one or more of the elements was out of alignment, because they didn't produce a normally focused image at any focus distance. Something 10 feet away on one side would be in focus, and something fifty feet away on the other side would be. Very strange.
Customer Review: Yes virginia there is a focusing issue w/ this lens
When I bought this lens for my Canon 450D, I did not do enough research about the poor quality of Sigma lenses. My suggestion is to take a look at Canon's 28mm EF and 35mm lens as possible alternatives to this lens. Like other reviewers my instance of this lens tends to focus in front of the subject I want and not on the subject. Thus, resulting in an out of focus/fuzzy picture. I've been forced to manually focus this lens if I desire my subject to be in focus. This really reduces the number of photos I can take per given amount of time and the situations where I can use this lens.

Canon LC-5 Wireless Controller for select EOS Digital SLR Cameras

For photographers who do not want to bump the bee's knees, spook the subject, or receive a stinging rebuke (or worse), Canon's infrared Wireless Controller LC-5 can make compelling close-ups a snap, even from more than one football field away.Working in Macro mode can demand a level of precision and steadiness that goes beyond the tolerances of typical picture taking. Mounting the camera on a sturdy tripod and controlling the camera functions with a remote switch are long-standing methods of minimizing camera shake and vibration. Now, thanks to Canon's new Wireless Controller LC-5, photographers can easily create compelling close-ups from a safe and secure "line-of-sight" distance of up to 330 feet. Far more than a wireless shutter release, this newly enhanced infrared remote provides photographers with the flexibility to control essential camera functions without intruding on the scene.
List Price: $680.00
Amazon Price: $407.90
Customer Review: It is enormous!
It is Gigantic! The unit barely fits in a shirt pocket, and protrudes significantly. The receiver unit which mounts in the camera hotshoe, is 1/4 the size of the camera. I always prefer to purchase the Canon products, despite the higher price for accessories, but this was just too large to be practical.Coupled with the high cost, I chose to return it. It works perfectly, but unless you want the ability to daisy chain several of these units to extend the remote firing distance you might be better off with a lower cost, and smaller after market unit. I returned my unit, and purchased Canon WFT-E3A Wireless File Transmitter for EOS-40D The thought process was - if I'm going to use something large, it should provide far more capability. Very pleased with the WFT-E3A
Customer Review: Excellent item but a little pricey
I received the item within a few days after ordering. It works great and is very well made. The price was a little high for the amount of times I will be using it but I'm happy with the purchase. If you have the need, I would highly recommend this wireless remote.

Autofocus doesn't work well at all, but then who needs autofocus on a fisheye lens? Very good images from this, and the chromatic abberation and vignetting is easily fixed in Photoshop.

Very satisfied with the purchase. A good lens to learn and use all the time until you learn more and know what you are looking for specifically.

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras + Accessory Kit

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens allows enjoyment of super wide-angle photography and it is a very powerful tool for indoor shooting and landscape photography with digital SLR cameras. Wide angle of view (102.4 degrees at 10mm and 63.8 degrees at 20mm) offers the photographer greater freedom of expression. 3 Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are employed for effective compensation of color aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses. One piece of glass mold and two hybrid aspherical lenses, offer excellent correction for distortion, as well as all types of aberration. This lens is equipped with an inner focusing system, and the models which are equipped with HSM system provide quiet, high speed autofocus shooting and also offer full time manual focusing. It has a minimum focusing distance of 24cm at all focal lengths. The non-rotating lens barrel perfectly suits the petal shaped lens hood. A circular polarizing filter can also be used conveniently. Customer Review: Good complement
This lens is a good complement to the existing ones I have. The wide angle effect is good, even if it is not recommanded for action photography because of some image deformations that can occure.

From the camera's newly enhanced, 10.1-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor (designed and manufactured by Canon) and its proprietary and super-efficient DIGIC III image processor, to its completely redesigned autofocus sensor and fast, 6.5 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting capability (for bursts of up to 75 Large/Fine JPEGs or 17 RAW images), the EOS 40D SLR puts the fun in functionality and makes serious photo business a positive pleasure. Compact, lightweight and a wide magnification range--this standard zoom lens features a wide focal length range from normal to telephoto equivalent to 29-320mm in the 35mm format. It features an Optical Image Stabilizer for up to 4-stops of effective correction even at full zoom. Since Canon's optical image stabilization system is in the lens, not in the camera, you can see the stabilized, steadier images through the viewfinder. Customer Review: I use it to take pictures of buildings for work
Let me start out by saying I'm a hobbyist and photography is not how I make my living... I work for a company that supplies structural steel to the commercial GC's all over Texas. I use this lens to take great pictures of buildings! I can get up close to the building and take a great picture with a lot of crisp detail in the foreground and bokeh in the background. Without it, I was using a 50 or 85mm and I would have to stand too far away and would loose the detail up close. Limitation: One thing to note is that on a 10D, the lens is so big that the integrated camera flash will cast a shadow in your pictures. This is not a problem with my 30D (or with a speedlite), but it is a problem when my father uses it on his 10D and didn't want to take a speedlite. Overall, I really like using this lens and use it a lot... in fact, it stays on my camera 85% of the time.
Customer Review: Excellent Lens
Although I am very new to the SLR world I made the jump right to this L series lens and I love it. Super sharp images, great color, very fast focus, and having 16mm to play with at the wide end is a lot of fun. There is definitely some light fall off at the corners with the aperture wide open, but stopped down it isn't really an issue. There is slight distortion at the widest angles but I kind of like that effect to I'm not bothered by it. I shoot a lot in overcast and dark conditions so the f/2.8 is great. The only thing I have been struggling with is flare in bright conditions. Pointed near the sun at 16mm even with the hood on you still have to be careful. Like I said, I don't have a lot of experience yet so I can't say if this is normal or not. The flaring isn't anything so damaging that it cannot be corrected in Photoshop. I'm extremely pleased with this lens!

Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG IF HSM APO Fast Aperture Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

This telephoto zoom lens provides a large F4 aperture at all focal lengths. The new multi layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghosting while maintains minimal light-fall-off; superior peripheral brightness is ensured. New multi layer coating of this lens gives superb color performance while cutting down flare and ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. High optical performance is demonstrated throughout the entire zoom range. Two SLD glass elements are used in the front lens group and two in the rear lens group for superior correction of several aberrations for superior image quality throughout the entire zoom range. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the petal-type lens hood supplied and circular polarizing filters. Customer Review: Sigma 100-300mm F4 - Great lens for the price.
I bought this lens because the Canon 100-400mm was alittle to much for my pocket book. I have had the lens over 5 months and used it mostly outdoors with a monopod. A monopod is a must, Living next to Yellowstone Park I use this lens alot, however it is alittle heavy, and needs alot of light to get a perfect picture. Its not a L lens but it has its qualities that are very close, this lens doesn't get the attention it deserves for outdoor photography. If you are looking for a good F4 lens without spending over $ 900.00 this is a good alternative. If you shot in low light tripod is a must. Overall I am very happy with this lens, I would give it 5 stars if it handled low light better.
Customer Review: Great Telephoto Zoom
I bought this lens to use with my Canon 30D for high school sports (soccer, football, baseball, etc). I already had the Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras and needed more focal length. Like the 70-200 F/2.8, this lens is big, heavy, and built like a tank. The bare lens is about an inch longer than the 70-200, but the 100-300's hood is longer than the 70-200's hood. The zoom and focus rings are wide and move smoothly with just the right amount of resistance. This lens is sharp wide open. At the overlapping focal lengths, the 70-200 at F/4 is just barely sharper than this lens at F/4 (wide open). At 200mm, this lens is actually sharper (200mm is this lens's sweet spot.) At 300mm, the lens is still sharp wide open, but I like to stop down to F/4.5 just to keep things super-sharp. Up to 250mm, I would not hesitate to use it wide open. This Sigma lens has HSM which means the focus is fast and quiet. The lens focuses a little slower than the 70-200 F/2.8, but I've found that the 30D is more of a limiting factor in focus speed than the lens is. Servo tracking is very good with this lens, the only time it can't keep up is when track runners are sprinting straight at me (although again, I think the body is the limiting factor here.) For almost every other situation, the focus will definitely keep up. All in all, this is not an indoor lens by any means, but as an outdoor sports (or wildlife/nature) lens, it is awesome.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

One of the finest telephoto zoom lenses in Canon's EF line, this 70-200mm f/2.8 lens offers comparable optics to a single focal-length lens. The lens employs four UD-glass elements to minimize chromatic aberrations, creating sharp, high-quality images regardless of the application. The constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, meanwhile, makes the lens extremely popular among professionals. Other features include an inner focusing system with an Ultra Sonic Motor (USM), a 4.9-foot close focusing distance, and a 77mm filter size. The lens--which is compatible with EF 1.4x II and 2x II extenders--carries a one-year warranty.

Customer Review: It's as good as they say
This is my first L lens from Canon. I also upgraded cameras to the 40D. What a perfect match. Great lens for indoor and outdoor sports. Tri-pod mount on the lens provides the perfect balance for lens and camera. Takes great photos in gyms for sports and stages for school performances. I elected to save money and not buy the IS version as I almost always use a monopod or tripod. This was a good decision as I have yet to see a bad picture due to camera shake.
Customer Review: Canon's Amazing Zoom
At first i was really unsure if i should get the F4 version of this lens, or the 2.8. I finally decided to get the 2.8, and i'm VERY glad i did. I only have one complaint with this lens and that is that it gets kind of heavy after a while, which you soon get used to. I would suggest this lens to anyone looking for a pro grade zoom. Always fast, always sharp.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Lens + Canon SLR Camera Case + 57-inch Tripod + Accessory Kit for Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XS, XSi, EOS 30D, 40D 50D Digital SLR Cameras

Kit Includes: 1) Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Lens; 2) Canon SLR Case; 3) All-in-1 USB Card Reader; 4) Image Recovery Software; 5) Memory Card Wallet; 6) LCD Screen Protectors; 7) Tripod with Carrying Case; 8) 6-Piece Cleaning Kit

The Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS telephoto Zoom Lens is designed with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology while retaining compactness and lightness. This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses), and the image stabilizer effect equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon's 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range.

Made from rugged, water-repellant Nylon, and outfitted with a non-slip reinforced handle, this compartment case will easily hold your camera, lenses, flash, and accessories.

This USB card reader works with many card formats, including SD, microSD, CF, MS, xD and more.

Retrieve lost or deleted images from your memory card with Image Recall Digital Image Recovery Software.

Keep multiple memory cards protected and organized with this durable storage wallet.

This kit contains 4 Screen Protectors to custom fit your camera's LCD monitor.

Lightweight and sturdy, this 57-inch tripod is supplied with a fitted case and strap. It can be easily taken anywhere to gain maximum performance from your Camera.

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains a hurricane air blower, Lens Cleaning Tissue, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.

Canon EOS-10D 6.3MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)

Canon's EOS-10D 6.3-megapixel digital SLR builds on the strengths of the award-winning EOS-D60 and offers a range of improvements to both the camera's design and its feature set. It offers a seven-point wide-area autofocus system, fast 3-frames-per-second burst rate, and an ergonomic, super-tough magnesium alloy body shell.

The 6.3-million effective pixel CMOS sensor--providing up to 3,072 x 2,048 pixels--is supported by Canon's unique high-power DIGital Imaging Core (DIGIC) processor. The speed at which the DIGIC processor works has allowed Canon to extend the number of full resolution images in burst sequences to nine, at a rate of 3 frames per second. As well as improved speed, DIGIC also helps produce more accurate color rendition while reducing image noise.

The metering system, using the newest metering algorithm available and a 35-zone evaluative metering system linked to all seven focus points, offers improved exposure consistency and stability. A range covering ISO 100 to 1,600 offers high-quality images across a very broad spectrum of shooting conditions. Photographers working in particularly poor light may also take advantage of an option to extend this range to ISO 3,200.

The EOS-10D is the first digital SLR camera to feature direct printing. Linking via a USB cable, you can make prints immediately from any of Canon's range of compatible bubble jet or CP printers--including the S830D, S530D, and CP-100--without the need to connect to a computer. Controls within the camera's own menu system allow you to choose print quantity, size, and image cropping. When using Canon's card photo printer CP-100, with the optional battery pack, prints can be made in the field away from a power supply.

Other features include:

  • Automatic selection of FAT16 or FAT32 file systems, to support large-capacity CompactFlash Type I or II memory cards of over 2 GB storage size (such as Microdrives).
  • 1.8-inch TFT (transreflective) LCD monitor with five brightness levels and 10x zoom.
  • Super Intelligent Orientation Sensor detects whether the camera is being held in the portrait or landscape orientation when an image is captured, and automatically rotates the image in the camera's LCD preview screen and on a computer when downloading using Canon's ZoomBrowser software.
  • Extended battery life providing approximately 650 images without flash or 500 images with 50 percent flash.
  • Ability to save an image in RAW format even when it was shot in JPEG mode.

The EOS-10D comes complete with battery pack, compact single battery-charging unit, USB cable, video cable, the latest Canon software and Photoshop Elements. The EOS-10D accepts the same BP-511 battery pack, and the same BG-ED3 battery grip as the EOS-D60.

Customer Review: Focus mechanism is a nightmare!
Lots of trouble getting my million dollar digi to focus. (I got it as a gift dec 03) I have an original rebel, Elan 7E and consider myself pretty experienced with canon. I've never seen anything like this. I am about to give up and go back to film. Shooting small children and weddings are a nightmare with this. I have a bride with lots of well focused flowers and she is out of focus in most picures. Very frustrated.
Customer Review: Great camera, but doesn't last long - planned obsolescence
This is a fantastic digital camera - reasonably priced for the myriad of features it has. I use it professionally. The low-light shooting is excellent, with reasonable artifacts, and the speed is also great. Auto focus is excellent most of the time, and the auto focus field can be adjusted through the menu. I loved using it, and am considering getting another one despite its short life (read below). After having it for 2.5 years, it broke down. The auto-focus mirror below the main mirror is attached to the body by a tiny spring which latches to a flimsy plastic part. This part simply wears out after about 20,000 shots (according to the camera rating and the many irrate customers with a same problem, posting on the web). It's designed to fail after about 3 years of use (depending on the amount of use it gets). This is a terribly bad design that could have been fixed by using a metal part, considering that this is NOT a disposable camera... Repair takes up to 6 weeks, as the camera can only be repaired in their main repair center, and costs about $200. I've been told that most of Canon digital cameras of this line carry the same defect, regardless of price. Too bad, considering that the overall quality of this camera encourages professional use...

Customer Review: Lens is OKAY
I rented this lens for a wedding and enjoyed it... but not enough to purchase it. The images it produces are nice but it was incredibly loud and had a hard time focusing (which extended the noise until it focused). For the same price, I think I'd stick with the Canon 15mm.
Customer Review: read reviews and know your camera
I have two full frame cameras that this lens does exactly what it is suppose to do at with excellent sharpness and color contrast. Don't use it much, but when it is needed there are no other lens that will match it for it's speed f2.8 and price. On an AP-C camera, e.g. 1.6 sensor, it is the equivalent of a 24 mm on my full frame. One should read before one buys.

Customer Review: Not bad, could be better
Pros: It's really cool what you can do with this lens. The special effects at close range are very intriguing, and for capturing landscapes, home interiors, etc. it really does the job well. For that reason, it's very handy to have. Cons: On my Canon 30D, the lens is not quite as sharp as my kit lens (28-135mm). It's not bad, especially on a tripod, but it could be better. I also get some purple fringes on back-lit edges. There seems to be a lot of contrast, making it hard to get the right exposure - pictures tend to be very overexposed and underexposed in a single shot. These problems can be remedied with software, and the ability to do what it does makes up for the disadvantages somewhat, but you do notice the quality difference. All in all, I like using the lens. I'm glad I have it because of what I can do with it. Make no mistake, the quality isn't as good as my Canon lens, and if I had a higher budget, I might try something else.
Customer Review: I like it
I'm not sure how I would rate the value if I had to pay the normal retail price for this lens, but I got a used one for $350 and I consider it a terrific value. Get consistently good shots with it, even at 11mm using a polarizer -- much less vignetting than I expected. The lens is really small and light for something of this sort.

Customer Review: Not Sharp, Not Matter What
Bought this from Amazon at the same time we bought the Sigma 10-20 super wide and the Canon 100MM Macro. Those two lenses are great, this one is a complete dog. Unfortunately, we have been so busy with the other two only recently have we had the need to use this one. The clarity is simply poor at all focal lengths and F stops. Does not matter if hand held, or on a tripod with a wireless flash, it's a dog. Just tried to return it, today is the 31st of May, and Amazon says my return window expired yesterday. Now I'm going to have to deal with Sigma I guess. I'll never buy another Sigma lens.
Customer Review: Good lens for semi-pro medium resolution
I agonized over several super telephotos before committing to this lens. I am a seasoned photographer and, after two decades of serious amateur photography, I am beginning to sell my work. My previous review of this lens jumped the gun a bit. After having the opportunity to give it a work out, I have to modify the review. If you are using an unforgiving sensor, such as the 5D, this may not be the lens for you. For cropped frame cameras (i.e., 20D) this serves as a useful extension to a medium range telephoto. If you demand 4MP+ tack sharp images, you will find this lens is superfluous in the bag. At best, it's a medium resolution lens that will work well for web imaging and smaller prints. At medium to small resolution, this lens is a great bargain and is highly functional. I found the autofocus to be sufficiently fast and accurate. CAVEAT: To get decent imaging with this lens, you need to know how to shoot super-telephoto. This has to be locked down/stabilized. This lens is no different. Extended beyond 300mm, mirror lock up is likely necessary. The physical feel of this lens reminds me of the old Nikkor 300mm. It's heavy. The lens appears to be well built and rugged. If I was able to, I would tweak my product rating to 3.5 stars. It's a great buy, but definitely not a pro lens.

Autofocus doesn't work well at all, but then who needs autofocus on a fisheye lens? Very good images from this, and the chromatic abberation and vignetting is easily fixed in Photoshop.

Customer Review: One of the Best Wide Angles you can get!
I got mine after a friend had gotten one for her EOS3. I love it. U have used it a lot on my film and Dig bodies. The quality and sharpness are great! Also a lot of fun to do close up work, as the distortion then is fun, esp on full frame cameras like the Canon 5d. This lens blows anything from sigma out of the water by a long shot! I compared it to the Canon model at almost twice the price, and the canon might focus a tad faster, but image wise both looked about the same! This lens ROCKS! Its a great lens for anyone wanting a WIDE angle lens. I love my Canon 17-40 F4 L series (found it sharper than the 16-35) but there are time you want wider, and then the 14mm is perfect!

Customer Review: Worth it's weight
Regarding the suggestion that one instead get a 70-200 and extension tubes... yes, that would be more versatile than the macro alone, but I have a 70-200 and extension tubes, and they can't compare to the 180 macro.
Customer Review: Canon telephoto 180 L series lens
It is great--exactly what I expected from the Canon L series. I used it on a recent trip to the Missouri River (Lewis & Clark) area and was extremely pleased.

Customer Review: Great lens except for a very slow focus
I borrowed this lens off a friend of mine during a recent visit to Pakistan and I have to say after my less than satisfying experience with the performance of my sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 I am very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this lens from the perspective of image quality. The saturation from this lens is absolutely fantastic and the focusing is very sharp. The bokeh is really beautiful and leaves little to be desired. It's very impressive indeed and seriously competes with high quality Canon glass. It has one serious drawback and that is the speed of its autofocus system. It's really slow, especially in low light (lots of hunting) which is what f/2.8 is supposed to be for. This wasn't too serious a problem for me because I was using it for portraits of people who were mostly seated but I think I'm a bit spoiled by the speed of my 70-200 f/4 L IS which has a very fast and sharp AF system. That said, this is a macro and really isn't meant for sports shooting and the like. For a solid macro lens with a nice focal distance that does a good job doubling as a portrait lens this is a great buy. If you don't need the extra mm's though you might want to look at the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro as it's a bit faster with great image quality as well, and on top of all that it's a few bucks cheaper. This is definitely a great lens though and if it fits your requirements don't hesitate to buy it. You'll be pleased with your results.
Customer Review: First non-canon lens
I wanted a longer reach macro lens and couldn't justify the cost of the Canon 180mm macro. After reading many positive reviews I decided to stray from the Canon lineup and purchase this lens. I can't compare this to other macro lenses since this is my first macro lens, but the build quality (with the exception of weather sealing) and sharpness of this lens is on par with my four Canon 'L' lenses. On the down side the autofocus does hunt when I've tried to use it, but, with the shallow depth of field in macro shooting I strictly use manual focus and autofocus is a non factor. Also, I don't own any other 72mm lenses which means having to buy more filters if I want to use them. Great price, build and IQ. Would also recommend a set of Kenko extension tubes, and steady hands.
